About this video

This video is part of a counseling session with a returning client, whom I had not seen for a few years. He wanted to review what he had previously understood about being in the moment. This video is an overview of an approach to being in the moment. The "work" of being present, of being now, is relevant when you have glimpsed the reality that this present moment IS your life. From here, we wish to learn how to be totally now; meditatively and lovingly joyful.

The video begins with my answering his question about what is meant by the phrase "just be willing to die". I had shared this particular teaching about surrender, of letting go of conditioned beliefs, (this from Roberta Meyer, who I fondly refer to as "my first guru") with him years before; he remembered the phrase, but not the essence of it.

A Zen saying.
~ In studying the way, realizing it is hard; once you have realized it, preserving it is hard. When you can preserve it, putting it into practice is hard.

I am Arthur D. Saftlas, also known as Nirvan, a name given to me by my teacher Osho. I am a non-traditional therapist, more Zen master than psychotherapist.

I am a Holistic Transpersonal Counselor. Holistic, because you are a being—you are one, undivided, inseparable by mind, body, or spirit. Transpersonal, because I teach esoteric lessons and meditation which are beyond ego and personality. Counseling, because I provide professional guidance in resolving personal conflicts and emotional problems.

My gift is I intuitively see which lessons you could integrate next, which would radically change your life—if you were open. My skill is presenting insights, in a way that are appropriate, compassionate, and clearly understandable.

I work in person in Marin County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and also by email, skype, and by phone.
